SKINNER'S WAR

Here's a short introduction to my first novel, Skinner's War.It's available for download to Kindle and other electronic readers from Amazon.com. The sequel, EAGLE FALLING is also available now!

I started Skinner’s War in 1999 as a short story, born out of frustration with a political leadership that had abandoned common sense, and sought total control over the everyday lives of “We the People”. When I finished the original manuscript back in 2000, a lot of the things I saw in America’s future were kind of “out there”, but in the last few years, I’ve been asked numerous times if I had a crystal ball, because so much that I wrote into Skinner’s War has come to pass, or been seriously discussed by our elected leaders. Gun bans, “Chipping” people to save healthcare paperwork, and a National Police Force, just to name a few. The answer is no, no crystal ball was necessary; age and experience told me that the America that Skinner found himself living in isn’t far away if we as Americans allow it.
Skinner is as much a “bad guy” as he is a “good guy” in a lot of respects, but he feels that some things are intolerable, and being a lover of freedom, motorcycles, and America, he sets out to help regain America’s freedom or die trying.
There is a lot of military style action and fighting as Skinner emerges as the leader of the rebellion, and though it centers in California’s Central Valley and the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, the action stretches nation wide.
A lot of the places you’ll read about in Skinner’s War are real. You can go there and see them for yourself, like the old Tungsten mine at Wishon Reservoir. I walked in Skinner’s footsteps before he did.
You’ll also find a lot of political satire, and I’m sure you’ll recognize a lot of the “leaders” by their actions, if not by name. There are some “sexual situations” that are quite descriptive, and may give pause to the faint hearted, but they’re part of Skinner’s life, as they are all of our lives.
I think you’ll get a few laughs at some of the situations that arise throughout the book as well, a new appreciation for the freedoms we still have, and an awareness of those freedoms we’re losing daily to political correctness.
I hope you enjoy the read as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Best wishes, and God bless America!

Here's one you may like!

By Buckshot

The road winds through the mountains
caressed by towering trees.
Her tires sing to the pavement
and their song lifts on the breeze.
I see my image in her mirror
as I roll her throttle on.
An old man’s looking back at me,
his best days come and gone.

I feel her ageless hunger,
I know her endless thrill,
and miles of highway disappear
as her V-twin eats its fill.
I’m familiar with her trembling
like the flesh of lovers lost,
and I know I’ll never give her up
no matter what the cost.

When I’m riding on these mountain roads
the long years fall behind;
she sweeps away my aches and pains
like cobwebs from my mind.
Her slipstream breeze caresses me;
gentle fingers from above,
I feel the sunshine kiss my cheek
like the afterglow of love

Unlike blood and human flesh
that lose their thirst for living,
she helps me drink of nature’s wine
and all the life it’s giving.
Some day I’ll hear The Reaper’s call
And my soul with him will fly,
‘till then I’ll twist her throttle hard
and live until I die.

Greetings all you 2 wheeled troublemakers!

Howdy!
For those of ya who don't know me, I'm "Buckshot". Been riding since 1962, owned at least one of about everything on two wheels, and never owned one I didn't like an' enjoy. I write for Thunder Press, Bikernet.com, and occasionally for other bike magazines. I'm an old road dog, born three days before Moses, an' I don't put up with crap from man, beast or government, as you'll soon learn! Ya may not always agree with me, but I'll damn sure give ya something to ponder in the outhouse! There'll be some short stories, some biker poetry, an' a bunch of stuff that's been rattling around in my head, because everybody's entitled to MY opinion! I'll also keep ya updated on my projects, what I'm building, how I'm doing it, an' what's in store for the future. If I offend ya, be sure ya let me know, so I can keep doin' it! I consider myself an American Patriot, so I'll keep ya informed about what the government's up to as far as steppin' on your rights, an' pushin' ya around. If you're a "progressive", this blog will be rated "Y" for "You won't like it."

I live in the boonies outside Madtown, in central California, where I build custom Harleys, hotrods, an' raise bionic gophers an' trees I'm allergic to. The weather's pretty good for ridin' most of the year, so I do.

I'll include updates on my little wife, Reggie, from time to time as well. She's a handicapped rider, piloting (usually at near supersonic speed) a custom Harley trike I built her. She just won 1st place, People's Choice, Best of Show at the Easyriders show in Sacramento, an' people love her everywhere she goes. My latest build, an "old school" rigid Shovelhead, won a 2nd place in the Judged Old School Chopper class at the Sacramento Easyriders show as well. That's us in the photo below. She's a rider, an' handles as good as she looks!

Stick around, check things out daily, an' you won't be bored. Pissed off, maybe, but not bored! See ya on the road!
